This is simple software fairly easy to use and great for beginners to DAW. Of course there are limitations but this is still pretty powerful software. Used this software for about 10 years. I still use it occasionally. I used Audacity at the same time but found Audacity somewhat complicated and not the greatest documentation. Using Reaper now. Still think Krystal is great!! Thanks to the creators. More

As an amateur musician, I've successfully used Krystal for many years to create backing tracks or to create my own ambient music and nature sound tracks. It's incredibly simple to use as the display is not overcrowded or over coloured! You may need Audacity to convert files to wav, for uploading, but other than that, it has no disadvantages for me- I would have been prepared to pay decent money for this as I think the traditional well known, multi-tracking studios are over the top and not user friendly- you can work out how to use Krystal in next to no time... Big thanks to its creators... More

Best free audio daw simple powerful but old ... love it .
This Daw is Old audio only no midi but don't let that fool you as starter daw it's fantastic and it's what led to Studio one by presonus .
There is a ton free VST's that can make you guitar or what every sound great if you know how to use them .
This Daw getting poor ratings can only be from those who don't understand how to use it properly either with Pc set up or not knowing there own computer.
There lots to learn you can find help at Kristal audio forums.
If you need more then audio this daw is not for you but it's a great start .
Here's prove of what it can do from https://soundcloud.com/dino-wodini who still uses Kristal
I still have it but my music improved due to this Daw and now I use Reason7 because I wanted midi.
So again great starter or long term daw depending on your needs Vst support in which you can get Compressors, Echo's,Reverbs , Eq's and the works
I use this on windows 7 64bit enjoy it it's FREE ! More
